High Frequency Toroidal Power Transformer Low Noise Small Volume
Toroidal Transformer Basics
Toroidal transformers feature several advantageous differences when compared to traditionally-built devices:
1. Overlapped coils, as opposed to two separate coils, allow for much smaller devices.
2. Magnetic flux is generally limited to the toroidal core, meaning that toroidal transformers essentially shield themselves from producing electromagnetic interference (EMI).
3. By requiring a smaller number of turns per coil, toroidal transformers feature higher inductance relative to a similarly-sized traditional transformer.
The toroidal power transformer is suitable to meet the needs of noise reduction and reduced space. The noise is reduced thanks to the components the transformer is made of and due to the way it is built. The core is made of Grain-Oriented (GO) M2 quality silicon to maintain low induction and the minimum dispersion of magnetic flow. The copper is wound up in an even and compact way to maintain the noise level close to zero. The reduced space is due to the toroidal construction system which considerably reduces the space if compared to a traditional laminated core transformer.
